VW's Slovak Unit Starts Production of the SEAT Mii

The SEAT Mii, the third member of VW’s New Small Family following the Volkswagen up! and the Skoda Citigo, has entered production at the Bratislava plant. The Mii comes to market at the end of 2011 as a two-door; the four-door version follows in 2012. Like its sister models, it will be built with all-new 1.0-litre petrol engines with 44 and 55 kW (60 and 75 hp).

Volkswagen Slovakia has been operating in the country for 20 years. Since 1991 it produced more than 2.5 million vehicles. With a workforce of over 7.000, it is one of the largest employers in Slovakia. The Bratislava plant currently produces the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Volkswagen up!, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii, as well as the complete body of the Porsche Cayenne. In 2010, it produced more than 144 500 vehicles. By adding production of the high-volume NSF small cars, the Bratislava plant is expected to boost annual output to a bit more than 400,000 cars in 2012.
More than 99% of production Volkswagen Slovakia destined for export.
