Volkswagen to Invest €1Bln in Slovakia Over the Next 5 Years

WOLFSBURG, Germany - Volkswagen Slovakia plans to invest €1 billion in the course of the next five years to boost car and component production at its local sites.

"In the next five years will focus on new production technologies and capacity expansion at our car plant in Bratislava and our components plant in Martin. The investment volume will increase twofold as compared to the previous five years."said Andreas Tostmann, CEO of Volkswagen Slovakia.

The modernization plan includes a high-tech paint shop for Volkswagen’s New Small Family models. The equipment will reduce energy consumprion of the process by up to 80%, while emissions will be reduced by up to 90%.

The company has lready invested more than €1.7 billion during its nearly 20-year operation in the country. Since it began production in Bratislava, over 2.5 million vehicles of five brands came off the assembly line in Slovakia.
