Volkswagen to Increase Welding Capacity at Bratislava plant

The new welding shop will be capable to produce up to 1,100 units a day, which is significantly higher than the capacity of the current unit, which will be demolished. According to etrend.sk, construction is scheduled to begin in 1Q 2012 and to be completed in 1Q 2013, with technology installations to take one more year so that the new welding shop should start production in 1Q 2014 and reach full capacity by 2016. The new facility will provide jobs for 1,200 workers. The project is part of the carmaker's €1.5 billion five-year investment plan.
