Volkswagen to Increase SUV Production at Bratislava Plant

Volkswagen will expand the assembly line producing SUVs during the forthcoming holidays, which start on December 23rd. The assembly line will resume operation on January 16th. The investment is necessary to meet the growing demand for SUV models produced at the factory. Production capacity of the recently launched New Small Family models will remain unchanged.

Volkswagen Slovakia currently produces the Audi Q7, VW Touareg SUVs, as well as Porsche Cayenne complete bodies. Production of the Volkswagen Up!, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii was added at the Bratislava plant in autumn 2011.

Volkswagen previously announced they would invest EUR 1.5 billion in Slovakia by 2016.

Volkswagen is spending €50 million to boost production of sport utility vehicles by 25 percent in its Slovak plant
