Volkswagen Rus to Add Third Shift at Kaluga Plant

Volkswagen Group Rus will soon launch a third shift at its Kaluga plant in a move to boost production. The facility, which added a second shift on September 20, 2010, has a current annual capacity of 150 thousand vehicles. By introducing a third shift, production capacity of the plant will grow to 180 thousand units annually.

Currently the Škoda Fabia and Octavia, as well as the Volkswagen Polo Sedan and Tiguan Fl are being built in Kaluga using CKD production method. Additionally, the plant assembles the Volkswagen Touareg and Transporter models from SKD kits.

The Kaluga facility will launch its added third shift in mid-August
