Takata Breaks Ground on New Manufacturing Plant in Russia

Japanese Takata Corporation, a supplier of automotive safety systems, has announced that its European operating company, Takata (Europe) GmbH, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new safety parts plant of OOO Takata-Petri Rus on May 23, 2011 in Ulyanovsk oblast, Russia. The high-tech manufacturing plant will produce seat belts, airbags and steering wheels.

Established in September 2010, OOO Takata-Petri Rus plans to build a high-tech plant that incorporates environmentally friendly and energy saving technologies. Investment in the new plant will total approximately ¥2 billion (approx. €17.3 million). It is scheduled to begin operation by April 2012, and will employ around 300 people.

In Central and Eastern Europe Takata (Europe) GmbH operates 5 manufacturing plants in Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic.
