TagAZ Reports Production Results for the First Half of 2011

In the first six months of 2011 Taganrog Automobile Plant (TagAZ) produced 13,315 cars, which represents an increase of 110% over the same period of last year. Production was dominated by the Vortex (46,2% of the total production) and Hyundai (41,7% of the total production) brands.

Production of Vortex cars showed an over 4-fold increase from 1,417 units in the first half of 2010 to 6,154 units produced between January and June 2011, mainly due to high demand for the Tingo compact SUV.

The production volume of Hyundai cars grew by 102.1% compared to the first half of 2010. A steady demand for the Hyundai Sonata sedan mainly contributed to this good result, from which TagAZ built 1,060 units compared to the 99 units in 1H2010.

Beside Vortex and Hyundai branded cars, the Taganrog-based manufacturer also builds Chinese BYD and JAC vehicles, as well as medium duty trucks and buses. The company has recently added the C-segment Tagaz C10 to its line-up, with sales of this model launched last month.

The Taganrog-based manufacturer produced over 13 thousand car in 1H11
