Sollers to assemble Toyota Land Cruiser at its Vladivostok plant

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia - Sollers will utilize part of its Dalzavod plant in Vladivostok, to assemble the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV.

Toyota will provide assembly kits and production technologies for the joint venture, which will be upgraded so that it can churn out up to 30,000 vehicles a year. Mitsui will transport the cars via the Trans-Siberian Railway for sale across Russia.

Toyota will become the first Japanese carmaker to assemble cars in Russia's Far East.

It will be Toyota's second production base in Russia. Its factory in St. Petersburg currently makes the Camry sedan, producing about 20,000 of the cars a year.
