Škoda Yeti Assembly Begins at GAZ

GAZ plans to assemble 500 Škoda Yeti at its Nizhny Novgorod plant until the end of the year. The company plans to lauch CKD production of the Škoda Octavia and Yeti in the fourth quarter of 2012, and will add the new Volkswagen Jetta to line in 2013.

Volkswagen and GAZ Group signed an agreement to assemble Volkswagen and Škoda models under contract at the GAZ plant in Nizhny Novgorod in June. The planned annual production capacity of 110,000 vehicles (50 thousand Škoda Octavia, 40 thousand Volkswagen Jetta and 20 thousand Škoda Yeti ) will be reached by 2015, while the agreement will run until 2019. Investment in the project amounts to some €200 million. This covers expanding and modernizing the existing paint shop and assembly facilities as well as setting up a new body shop at the Nizhny Novgorod plant.
