Škoda Plans Additional Shifts at Kvasiny Plant to Meet Demand

MLADA BOLESLAV, Czech Republic - Škoda plans to introduce additional work shifts at its Kvasiny plant from this fall to meet demand, trade union weekly Skodovacky odborar reports. The three-shift system will be in effect until end-2011 as part of a pilot project. Škoda is considering adding a Saturday shift at the plant from 2012.
Recruitment of additional employees has already begun, while the company aims to reduce the number of agency workers, replacing them with directly-hired workers.

In related news, Pavel Richter (39) was appointed as director of Kvasiny plant effective from May 1st. He succeeded Jan Tauchman (59), who retired. Richter previously led the welding shop at the Kvasiny plant.
