Škoda Opens New Training Center for the Paint Shop in Mladá Boleslav

MLADA BOLESLAV, Czech Republic - Škoda continues its strong investment in the qualification of its employees. The latest measure is the opening of a new training center for the paint shop at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav. It is the seventh training center of the company overall. In these facilities, employees working in production receive comprehensive know-how in all areas of production. For the Czech manufacturer, the permanent training and further education of employees is an important contribution to the company's growth strategy.

"The new training center offers optimal conditions for an intensive and realistic training of the relevant processes and activities in the paint shop," explained Michael Oeljeklaus, the Škoda board member for the areas of production and logistics. "In the coming years, Škoda will experience strong growth and double its sales until 2018. The acceleration of the production in our plants, which is associated with this effort, will make high demands on the entire production team. It is like in professional sports: only a daily and permanent training ensures a high performance level. That is now possible in a perfect way in the paint shop."

In addition, Oeljeklaus announced the construction of other training facilities: "We will continue to invest in the high and worldwide accepted manufacturing competence of our production team and are preparing other measures. We will soon open other training centers in all Škoda plants worldwide."

Even today, the Czech manufacturer has a dense network of training facilities in its manufacturing locations. For example, there are the so-called ‘lean centers’ at the three Czech Škoda plants as well as training centers for the areas of car body construction, engine production, logistics and vehicle assembly. Overall, almost 10,000 employees have been trained in these areas until now.

The new paint shop training center is comprised of several areas and was constructed according to the latest requirements of the paint shop. Different paining techniques and working with real car bodies and mounted parts – all relevant steps and activities of painting car bodies are trained in accordance with state-of-the-art know-how. Besides that, the painting line is moving so that employees can train the required operations during its movement. For theoretical training, a presentation room with the latest technology is also available.
