Škoda Launches Production of a Octavia EV Test Fleet

Czech car maker Škoda Auto has started production of a limited number of electric cars to gain valuable experience about their performance.

Škoda sees a big role in the future of electric cars as restriction on pollution emissions become more and more stringent. The on road results from the Octavia Green E Line models are seen as vital to develop knowledge of their usability, reliability and safety.

The cars, based on the mid-range Octavia, are capable of a top speed of around 135 km/h with the ion-lithium battery offering a range of 150 kilometres with a full charge. Ten such cars will be produced by the company in order to gain experience in ordinary traffic conditions. The test cars will hit the Czech roads in the fall.
