OAO Avtoframos, the joint venture owned by Renault and the city of Moscow, has started deliveries of Renault Megane hatchback and Fluence sedan cars, which are being assembled from SKD kits at the company’s Moscow plant. Avtoframos, which also produces the Logan and Sandero models, trained over 200 assembly workers and installed new production equipment to assemble the Megane and Fluence at the site. Both models are built exclusively with 1.6 litre petrol engines and fitted with either manual or automatic transmissions.
Until recently, all Megane and Fluence cars were imported from Oyak-Renault’s plant in Bursa, Turkey. Cars equipped with 2.0 litre petrol engines will continue to be imported from Turkey.
In the first five months of 2011, 4.960 Fluence sedans and 2.338 Megane hatchbacks were sold in the Russian market.
Renault’s Russian dealers have started sales of locally-built Megane hatchback and Fluence sedan cars
