Romanian Government May Suspend Subsidies to Ford

According to an agreement, Ford Romania has to receive €143 million aid from the state if it invests a total amount of €675 million in Craiova plant by 2012.

The Finance Ministry paid €17.6 million to Ford for the investment made in 2009, but the carmaker has not yet received the subsidy for 2010, even though the deadline was April 2011. The Finance Ministry argues the amount of aid paid by now is proportional to the investment made by Ford.

Ford officials refused to comment on the issue.
