Revoz to Scale Back Production amid Disruptions

Renault-owned Slovenian car maker Revoz d.d. will scale back production as supplies of some electronic parts remain disrupted after the March 11 Japan earthquake and tsunami. The night shift at the Novo Mesto Factory will be temporarily scrapped from May 23rd. About 390 agency workers and 130 permanent employees will lose their jobs for the time being, the French-owned plant said. Revoz, which produces the Clio Campus, Twingo and Wind small cars, currently has a 2,346 strong workforce.

Renault had appointed a task force to introduce measures to stabilise the supply of electronics from Japan’s Sendai region following the earthquake and to secure operation of Renault plants across the world.

Since the measures are not sufficient for Revoz to keep up up the present scale of production, adjustments are necessary in the organisation of work, the release said. Once the supply of automotive electronics is re-established, the plant can increase production and rehire staff.
