Renault Launches Partnerships to Develop First EV Recharging Network in Romania

Renault will develop the needed infrastructure for electric cars in Romania, together with the country’s electricity company Electrica, with Schneider Electric and Siemens, the four companies have announced. A team of experts from the four companies will develop a plan over the next three months to implement and maintain a recharging network for electric cars.

Renault has started selling electric car models Renault Fluence ZE and Renault Kangoo ZE in Romania. Renault officials have announced that the company will launch four electric vehicles (Fluence Z.E., Kangoo Z.E., Twizy and Zoe) on the international markets from autumn 2011 until mid 2012. Renault has also recently announced that 80% of its electric cars will be made in France by 2015.

These are the first steps towards the use of cars with zero carbon emissions in Romania. At a worldwide level the Renault Nissan alliance has closed more than 90 partnerships with cities, organizations and key partners to prepare markets and necessary infrastructure for the successful adoption of electric cars.
