Rába Extends Cooperation with Germany’s Fehrer Automotive

The components business unit of Hungarian vehicle and automotive parts manufacturer Rába Járműipari Holding Nyrt. has signed a contract with German supplier of interior trims F.S. Fehrer Automotive GmbH to supply the company with HUF1 billion (about €3.7 million) in metal parts for armrests annually between 2012 and 2019. According to MTI, the products will be used in cars built on Volkswagen’s MQB A/B platform, such as Audi A3, VW Golf VII, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia.

Rába said that it has installed new machinery at its parts plant in Győr (NW Hungary) to produce components for armrest and would expand the facility and hire new workers as a result of the contract. The company has been awarded a grant under Hungary’s economic development operative program.

Raba and FS Fehrer have been cooperating since March 2009, when the companies established a JV to make foam seat cushions. Raba owns 30% of the JV, while FS Fehrer owns 70% of the company.

FS Fehrer is a supplier to major car makers including Audi, BMW, Daimler, PSA, Renault, Skoda, Suzuki and VW.
