Pilkington Breaks Ground for Second Factory in Poland

Pilkington Automotive, a multinational glass manufacturing company, has launched construction of a new PLN350 million (approx. €80.5 million) production and warehouse complex in Southern Poland, in the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone. The investment will double production area and production capacity of car windshields The new complex, which is located 30 km away from Pilkington's factory in Sandomierz, is expected to be completed in April 2012. Initially, the project will create jobs for 300 full time employees, but the number of workforce may be increased to 500 by 2014.

Pilkington has been present in Poland since 1993. Its customers include Fiat, Ford, General Motors and Volkswagen. Pilkington Automotive Poland currently employs 1.200 workers.
