According to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, a total of 107,254 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia in May 2026.
According to data obtained from PPC JSC, the market size in April May 2026 was 110,669 units, which is 10.8% more than sales in May last year. In the first five months of 2026, sales of new passenger cars and LCVs in Russia increased by 6% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 482,803 units.
Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Alexey Kalitsev comments:
"May continued to demonstrate positive year-on-year momentum. Sales declined compared to April (-6%), primarily due to the traditional seasonal adjustment in demand associated with extended public holidays and a slowdown in business activity. At the same time, the market continued to expand, maintaining a positive growth trajectory compared to the previous year. However, no fundamental changes occurred in the key market drivers during May, including regulatory measures, the key interest rate, and exchange rate dynamics. Import volumes continued to decline, and this trend is expected to persist in the foreseeable future. Therefore, we do not currently see any prerequisites for significant market changes in the near term."
