New car market in Russia: August figures are released

According to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers’ Committee, total sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in August 2025 amounted to 125,025 units.

According to the PPC JSC, new car sales in August amounted to 125,356 units, which is 19% less than in August 2024.

In the first 8 months of 2025, sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles decreased by 24% compared to the same period in 2024, and amounted to 795,863 vehicles.

Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Alexey Kalitsev comments:
“August saw the market continue to show signs of stabilization. Compared to July 2025, sales remained largely flat, edging out the previous month's result by just 1%. The primary market drivers continued to be manufacturers’ and distributors’ warehouse stocks, consumer activity, and the key interest rate. However, should the current business conditions persist, there is a risk that the market's potential for further robust growth might be constrained.“
