New Car Market in Russia: August, 2026 Figures Are Released

According to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, a total of 113,874 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia in August 2026.

According to data obtained from PPC JSC, the market size in August 2026 was 116,220 units, which is 7.3% less than sales in August last year. In the first eight months of 2026, sales of new passenger cars and LCVs in Russia increased by 5.8% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 841,472 units.

Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Alexey Kalitsev comments:
“August results point to a moderate cooling after the July sales peak.

The current situation reflects a combination of sustained demand and cautious consumer behavior. Fuel market conditions, seasonal patterns and calendar factors also play a role. Following a relatively active July, it is not unusual for the market to show more subdued dynamics in August, as some consumers postpone their purchase until the holiday season is over and business activity resumes.

At the same time, the market has remained relatively resilient compared with July. We will continue to closely monitor developments, focusing on the trends emerging as the new business season gets underway.”
