Magyar Suzuki Switches to Single-Shift Production

Magyar Suzuki, the Hungarian subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp. will switch to a single-shift at its Esztergom production facility for three weeks, a move to mitigate risks of parts shortage stemming from the affects of a devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The factory will churn out 400-430 cars daily instead of the 850 units it produces in a two-shift work schedule. The company will maintain its 3,500 strong workforce, as it hopes to resume to double-shift production early next month.

Magyar Suzuki has switched to a single-shift at its Esztergom facility due to disrupted parts supplies from Japan.
