Magna Eyes New Plant in St. Petersburg

Magna International Inc. is considering building a new plant in Russia’s St. Petersburg region, Vedomosti reports citing government officials. According to the source the final decision on the plant will be made soon. If built, the facility will be located in the city of Shushary and is expectd to launch operations by the end of 2012/beginning of 2013. The new unit will reportedly be part of Magna’s Exterior & Interior division. The supplier currently has three plant is the St. Petersburg region (Kamenka, Kolpino and Shushary), which are producing various components mostly for the GM’s, Nissan’s and Hyundai’s local car factories.
