ZILINA, Slovakia - Kia Motors Slovakia may add a sixth model to its Zilina assembly plant in 2012, Slovak news agency TASR reported, citing company CEO In-Kyu Bae.
"We launched two new models this year and we want to launch a new model in 2012", In-Kyu Bae told reporters, after a meeting with Prime Minister Iveta Radicova.
Kia Motors Slovakia currently produces compact class vehicles, the Kia cee'd in three body versions, the Kia Sportage and the Hyundai ix35. It produced 207,464 vehicles between January and November, and expects to end this year with about 228,000 units built, up 28% year-on-year.
The Zilina factory has an annual production capacity of 300,000 cars.
MS said last week it expected Zilina output to increase slightly next year, driven mainly by manufacture of its two new SUVs.
