IzhAvto to Add 700 Jobs and a Second Production Shift at Izhevsk Plant

Russian car maker IzhAvto has introduced a second shift and increased the number of its employees by 700 at its Izhevsk plant as it starts full-cycle production of the Lada 2107, which which includes welding, painting and assembly. Production plan for this model in May is 3.150 units, while in June 6 thousand units.

The company produced a total of 6.052 vehicles in the first quarter of 2011, including 4.704 units of Lada 2104, 42 units of Lada 2107 and 1.306 units of Izh-27175 pick-ups. IzhAvto is expected to resume assembly of the Kia Spectra and the first generation Kia Sorento in May.
