By launching the third shift, annual production capacity of the Nosovice facility will increase from current 200 thousand to 300 thousand units. The company announced in February that in order to raise the plant's output it will hire about 1,000 new employees – about 800 of them this year – increasing the number of workforce to 3.600 by 2012.
The increased car production will also require building a new gearbox plant in addition to the current facility, which supplies gearboxes also to Hyundai’s Russian unit in St. Petersburg as well as Kia’s Zilina plant in northern Slovakia. The CZK3.5 billion (about €140 million) investment will be completed in 2012.
Hyundai currently produces the ix20 small MPV, the i30/i30 cw compact hatchback and estate and the ix35 SUV in Nosovice.
Hyundai will add a third production shift at its Nosovice plant at the end of September/beginning of October
