Honda Turkey to Recover Normal Production Levels Soon

According to Honda Turkey General Manager Hideto Yamasaki, the company will reach the normal production levels soon. This follows the period of parts supply interruption and reduced production levels following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The company is preparing to invest $10 million (about €7 million) at its Gebze plant in the production of the new Honda Civic sedan. The new model is expected to enter serial production there in December.

Some 60 to 70% of locally produced Honda cars are being exported to several markets including Germany, Israel, Russia, North Africa and Dubai.

The carmaker’s total Turkey sales stood at 16,259 in 2010. Car Eroskay, the marketing manager of Honda Turkey told the Hürriyet Daily News that their 2011 target was 15,000 units.
