First Official Pictures of New Mercedes-Benz B-Class Revealed

The next generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class is slated for a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

The entry-level B 180 will be powered by a new 1.6 liter petrol engine with 122 hp/200 Nm, which develops 156 hp/250 Nm in the B 200. Initially two diesel engine options will be offered for the car, the 1.8-liter four-cylinder unit produces 109 hp/250 Nm in the B 180 CDI and 136 hp/300 Nm in the B 200 CDI.

Daimler AG’s brand-new €800 million Kecskemét plant will launch pilot production of B-Class cars in in autumn, with serial production to start at the beginning of 2012. The factory is to turn out a hundred thousand Mercedes-Benz A and B-Class compact cars annually.

Mass production of second-generation B-Class (W246) cars will be started in early 2012 at Daimler’s brand-new plant in Kecskemét, Hungary
