Daimler Hires 1000th Employee at Kecskemét Plant

German car maker Daimler AG has so far employed 1,000 people to work in its plant in Hungary, wihich scheduled to open next year, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary CEO Frank Klein said yesterday.

According to him, the number of workforce will double to 2,000 by the end of this year at the Kecskemét factory, and is expected to reach 2,500 by 2013.

Daimler plans to launch pilot production at the plant this fall and begin serial production in the first quarter of 2012. In association with the plant in Rastatt (Germany), two vehicles of the next generation A- and B-Class are to roll off the production line in Kecskemét with an annual capacity of 100 thousand units.
