Jacques Chauvet, Renault’s manager for the Euromed region said that Dacia plans to transfer part of its Sandero production from its local plant in Mioveni, Romania to the Renault factory in Casablanca, Morocco, in order to expand production of the Duster model, Mediafax reports. Chauvet added that Renault’s Tangiers factory will begin production of the family and commercial Dacia models next year. Most of the components for these models will be provided by Romanian suppliers.
He added that Renault has no plans at the moment to build an electric or hybrid Dacia, but did not rule out such a project in the future.
Renault announced in July that Dacia's worldwide sales dropped in the first six months by 2.9%, to 176,956 units, from 182,153 units in the same period of last year.
The reason for the move is to free up capacity at the Mioveni to build more Dusters there
