Dacia Produces Half Millionth TL Gearbox

Renault Mecanique Roumanie (RMR), a part of Dacia’s Mioveni plant in Romania, has reached a milestone with the production of the 500,000th TL gearbox. Since April 2010 the factory has been supplying TL4 transmissions for Dacia Duster 4x2 vehicles and TL8 gearboxes for its 4x4 versions. Production of TL4 transmissions started in April 2008 at the plant. Approximately 80% of the TL4 gearbox production is exported to Renault plants in France and Turkey, and also to Nissan’s UK plant.

In 2010, the factory produced a total of 560,342 gearboxes (JH, and TL4/TL8 5-speed, 6-speed). RMR is integrated in the Usine Mecanique et Chassis Dacia (Dacia Powertrain and Chassis Plant), and has a production capacity of 5,000 gearboxes per week.
