Audi Hungaria Motor: Expansion Plan in Győr to Include a Second Phase

GYŐR, Hungary - Audi's plans to expand its plant in Gyor, nothwest Hungary, include a second phase, scheduled to start in 2018, the regional daily Kisalföld said on Monday, quoting a document available on the website of the regional environmental authority.

This second phase would start in 2017 and would double the output of the plant to 1,000 vehicles per day.

The paper quotes the document as saying the German car maker “does not plan to close down the facility in the next thirty years”.

Audi Hungaria announced a €900 million investment at the plant which will boost the number of cars it makes to 125,000 from 2013 last September. The Hungarian unit turned out 1,648,030 engines in 2010, 19% more than in the previous year. The plant in Győr assembled 38,541 cars in 2010, 18.2% more than a year earlier.
